Thanks for all the interest in the heifer just thought I should say that the bull will be steered for show steerhe was 133 lbs at birth unassisted will get some updated photos soon.

133 pounds at birth? Yikes. That will kill the Birth EPD's.

I think as a breed we really have to start worrying about this more. I know we have for the last 8 years, but I think we might be one of the few. I know that Chad Sumner is too, so that makes two of us I guess.

Dooloing i agree thats why he will be steered he was 2 weeks late out of a 9 year old cow thats why unassisted will make a great show prospect but not a bull

Did you ever figure out if you wanted to us Legacy or not? If you do, we probably should get the semen out to you, as you are coming up on breeding season.

YES I think we are going to use him probably on 1 heifer and 1 cow whats the price per straw looking at 5 straws maybe 10

Make it a few more, we don't care for big birthweights at all.  Our calves usually fall in the 70-80 lb range, but this year we had a real big one for us (around 105 lbs, decently easy pull), and even though he looks like a stud, he will get cut for sure.  The best part is, all of our heifers were unassisted and under 85 lbs this year, so our breeding stock is on the right track I think.  We only assisted two cows this year, and one of them really didn't need help, we just didn't know how long she had been in labor. Very easy pull.
