Two Belted Galloway heifers for sale in Illinois Price reduced!
« on: September 26, 2011, 03:40:40 PM »
I have accepted 3 Beltie heifers and a bull/steer on consignment.  All are purebreds.   Cattle are located on my farm near Chapin, Illinois.
All are of show quality.   I just got back from the World Beef Expo and these calves would have competed well in class.

November 2010 heifer out of a big 1200-1300# cow.
March 2011 heifer out of a 14 year old cow that is still super sound and fertile.
March 2011 heifer out of a beautiful heifer.  Cow calved at 20 months and is very pretty.

May 2011 Bull/steer calf out of another big cow.  Nice and thick.

The calves will be coming in Tuesday afternoon if the weather allows.   I will be weaning and breaking them to tie/lead.
Calves arecoming off the cow and are green so I'll also be starting them on feed.

I plan to snap some pix after clipping some off of their necks/heads.

These calves will have 4-6" hair this winter!  They have double coats as well.

Priced to sell at $1250-1500

I have been drawn to these cattle by their honest owners.  These are honest cattle with honest birthdates.

Bloodlines on these calves go back to Maple Brae Timothy, Rodeo, Green Arpent and other great bulls.

Pix available this weekend.

PM or respond here and I'll get them to you ASAP

Calves will be available for pick up next week.   Green broke, rough clipped and started on feed.

The calves showed up and are the most docile group of calves I have ever worked with despite having never been handled.  They came in right off the cows and are real green, never having had feed.

Let me introduce them:

Dana was born November 10, 2010   She is very deep-bodied and sound.  She weighs 650-700#
I see her as a real broody kind of female.   She looks like her momma.  Momma weighs about 1300#

Martha was born March 17, 2011.     She is a fancy little heifer with a great neck and head.
Martha weighs 350-400.   Her momma is 14 years old with a good udder.   Momma is real pretty.

Ivy was born March 24, 2011 to a 20 month old heifer.   He momma is quite feminine and I think will
be a real pretty cow when she matures.  Ivy is real green and will respond well to some feed.  Ivy is
     long-necked and feminine.

Gregory was born May 12 to another thick, big cow.   I think Gregory has a real future in the
showring.  He has a thick top and lots of bone.    He needs some feed.  Gregory has grown real well
      and weighs about 350 already.

These are good, honest cattle with accurate birthdates.

I put halters on the calves tonight and combed some of the cockleburrs out of them.   I was able to lead them a bit before letting them loose at dark.  They are that tame already.

Roughed out three last night and will get the 4th done tonight.  Boy, do they have hair!     Clipped lots of 3-4 " hair on necks and heads.  Rest of body is same.  Great for someone who likes to carve out a calf from the long and dense hair.

Two younger females an the bull have very nice necks/heads.  Haven't gotten to the November heifer yet.

Pix should be available Friday or Saturday.

Calves arrived Tuesday.  Came off the cows that morning.  Pix taken Thursday night, already leading calves.

Sorry they are not professional quality pix, was in a hurry to get some snapped and posted.

The first pic is a May bull.

This is the November heifer.

This heifer is above-average in size for growth.  She is reduced to $1250.

Late March heifer.

This heifer is real green.  She has a beautiful head/neck juncture and real good flat rump.  She just needs some feed.  She is always the first to the feedbunk and started real well on feed.

$1250 buys her-

Early March heifer I bought.

She is kind of small, but is a real honey.  My young son started leading her after just 4 hours of being tied.

Six year old cow with August 5 bull calf.

The other calves are out of cows almost this size (1350 pounds)

This calf is also for sale.

This cow is a real easy-keeper and perhpas the biggest Beltie cow you'll find in breeding condition.
The calf weighed 60 pounds at birth and now at 2 months weighs about 175 pounds.
He is super-deep bodied and will do someone some good.  He will be modest in frame size but will mature at 1800-2000 pounds.

The bull and early March heifer are sold.

The November heifer and late March heifers are still available and are now priced at $1250.  Will sell the pair for $2250.

The calves have been tied now for about 5 hours and some of them lead very well.
They will be vaccinated, wormed, poured and tattooed this week and will be ready to go to a new home.
The calves are now weaned and are started on feed.  They are eating about 5 pounds/day grain each and are looking for more.

I have found these calves to be very easy to work with.  If you are looking for something a little different, Belties are a good option.

These calves did not last long, they sold quickly.  Surprisingly the market for Beltie females is very strong.  I wish I had more available.

I enjoyed our talk on the phone this morning.   I hope I helped you find some heifers you are seeking.

Good luck!
