Like others on the Planet, I had never met Cathy. In fact for the first week or so I just assumed "Red" was a man!  Her voice of reason and calm was very much appreciated here and her passing is shocking news. I was just thinking the other day about how I have never been to the U.S. and a trip down would have to include stops at farms like Red Maple Maines.

My condolences to the Billenstein family. (angel)

As others have already expressed, I was very shocked and saddened to hear of Cathy's passing.

It's about two years ago now since Cathy first contacted me regarding Steer Planet.  Since that time, she and I have exchanged a few short emails, and Steer Planet has become even more of a "must read".  I think many of us consider this site to be one of the best cattle forums on the internet, and Cathy has certainly played a big role in helping that to happen.

We will all miss Cathy's optimism, encouragement, and contributions to Steer Planet.

My sincerest sympathy to her family in your time of loss.

One of the reasons I kept up the alien gag was that Red sent me email after email telling it made her smile and laugh. I got to meet her in KC last summer and it was like we had been friends forever.

Cathy your are missed already. I will eat some fried chicken embryos and drink a beer to your memory. <alien>

Prayers to all her family.

God's speed Cathy. (angel)

I was just at Cathy's farm a couple saturdays ago. She was so excited about the new calves. We had such a good talk. Cathy said she felt the best she had in quiet sometime.I looked for her today at the Expo because I told her I would be stopping by. I didn't see her. I read this and had to read it twice. My heart is heavy. Bless her and the only peice of mind is she knew God and is in a much better place than we are. My condolensces go out to Mark and her family . This is so unexpected and I am stil a little shocked.

I will not deny that Red and I had our differences, but she  had a love for helping people. My prayers go out to her family and friends.

Yesterday, I saw our dear friend Cathy.  I gave her a hug, chatted about  cattle and showed her pictures of her two week old  "grand calf" out of a Cherry Bomb heifer I bought from her.  I was so happy to see her out and about doing something she loved.  I said "I will see you tommorrow before I leave...."  Of course, now I understand why I couldn't find her.  We don't always get  tomorrow so take a moment to keep Mark and the family in your prayers and hug someone you love.

Wow I can't believe this!  I just found out who Red was, as some of the other people from Steerplanet, on Friday at the OBE.  Brad Hook pointed her out to us.  So Sorry to the rest of the steerplanet community and to the family.  Our thoughts and prayers are with you all.  (angel)

Thoughts and prayers from the Romshek"s.  A sweet person that made this site what it is.  A kind person that made everyone know they were welcome! You will be missed, guide us from above!  OBE is probably where she would prefer to leave this life!  Give Woody a hug for me!

I received an email when the SP was just getting started to come join this fun group.  If it wasn't for Red I probably wouldn't have found this site!  Thanks' Red, you have touched many!

I'm devestated...I lost my best friend in the world.  My heart just broke.  A piece of me will never be the same.  I just thank God he brought Cathy into my life.  I don't know what my life would have been like without her.

Adam...please let me know arrangements so I can get to Ohio for the funeral.  My phone is 660-786-2336 if Mark needs anything.

Good bless your family...I feel like I know you all.

It's absolutely unexpected and horrendous.

But we do know that she's in a better place.

I want to offer my condolences to the Billenstein family.   Red's family will certainly be in my prayers.

Stunned... shocked... saddened... depressed...  somebody pinch me & tell me that I'm dreaming this!

Red will be greatly missed.  IMHO, she was the heart & soul of Steer Planet.  Friendly, kind, lovable & extremely caring would all be understatements.  This place will not be the same without her.  Actually, it hasn't been quite the same since she began having health problems.  I already miss her.
