Our fair is in 50 days and our steer need more fat/ Weight. He currently weighs 1010, we wanted him to be pushing 1300;I know that will not happen. So our new Goal is 1200 pounds, we have been pushing hard and I've had him on fat supplement for 2 months now, but he still has a little cover but not a lot. If any one has any tips on how to help id be forever in your debt. I've never had this problem before!!
Thank you

Instead of steam rolled corn, try cracked. The starch is already exposed so it'll take less energy from the rumen to get through the shell. Go for 3 lbs per FEEDING instead of per day if you're really pushing hard.

I've had good results with Purina's Heavyweight. Limousine steer who was pushed protein until the last 3 months, wasnt getting enough fat from just cracked corn and FT so I gave him quite a high dose of that for a month and had good results for the short length of time I gave it to him (though it was still a decently scarce cover, maybe go up a few oz from the max recommended dose but it'll hurt feed intake if he's picky). I've also heard a few good things about Dyne but I have no personal experiance.

If he has a big pen, move him to a small one so he doesnt exersice as much but dont let up on training one bit. Good luck! A maine anjou is excellent at converting feed to weight. Quite surprising he's having such trouble!
