I have a big framed steer for our county fair this year. This is the first steer we've had so I'm not sure how to go about this. The show is the end of July and it's a big angus calf, we are betting he will finish around 1500 lbs.I have used rice pellets with show lambs and skinny horses before just want to make sure I do this right! any advice would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks everyone have a great day

I would try to burn him out with corn. Make sure he is on a finishing ration. 12-13% protein and at least 4% fat, then start adding steamed corn to his feed, start by replacing 3lb of feed with 3lb of corn. Watch his stool if it stays good and tight then you can continue to increase the corn every 4-5 days. Just make sure he doesn't get a sour stomach. I would give him some probiotics just to be safe.
