thanks for all the nice commets.  The cattle at Studers look good.  I think our AOD Heifer is the best white heifer in the midwest.  Come take a look Sat and prove me wrong.

Took Diezel down to Nichols yesterday.  They got a really good collection for his first time.  I will call Jay and release 10 units to you.  Just call them at 515-967-5311 to arrange shipment.

Mark,  I taking him to Nichols later this week.  If you are  interested in semen I will ship you a cane. I have known you a long time.   You pay for the shipping and the semen is yours.

We had some thought about showing him this summer and fall.  But I think at this point I will collect him and put him to use in our herd.  The sooner we get calves the sooner we will know just how good he is.

Diezel is sired by DRM Phineas who is sired by Ace of Diamonds.  The bottom side of Phineas goes back to K-Kim and Studer breeding

The Big Show / Iowa Royal Shorthorn Sale

Don't forgot the upcoming Shorthorn Sale in Des Moines Feb 13th.  A really deep offering of bulls and heifers.
I have attached a picture of heifer we are selling.  We will offer to the buyer 2 straws of Cabrera

I have attached a picture of the DF Waco that Matt was talking about that we are selling in the Iowa Royal sale 2-11-14.  We are offering 2 straws of Cabrera to the buyer.

Mark,    Actually I look at the price of the semen share on Cabrera as VERY responsible.  50 straws for $2000.00 is $40.00 per straw.  The semen that sold on the Summit sale was way higher then that.  I will be splitting a share with Hi-View Shorthorns in Wisconsin.  I plan to give 2 straws of Cabrera with the good DF Waco heifer I am selling at the Iowa Beef Expo.   I have 4 heifers to breed plus one first calf heifer I will breed and sell in the Family Legacy sale this fall.  Just breeding these I have use 8-10 straws that only leave me 15 or so to use yet this year or next year.  With only 25-30 cows I still will have my share used up pretty quick.
So as a small breeder I consider it a good buy, especially considering what Cabrera has to offer the breed.

This bull I really liked from the time I first saw him coming down the aisle.  He hadn't been clipped or washed yet.
I went back to look at him after he had been clipped and then I found out about his EPD's  0.0    8.3    24.8   3.9     he had a 900# Adj weaning weight plus he weighed 1822 # in Denver.   I really think this bull has a place in the shorthorn industry. His first calves are in the 75# range out of first calf heifers.

I sure plan on using him
