The Big Show / Re: Any "Two Tone" calf pics out there?

Thanks so much for the pictures! I really like her! She's got a real cowy look to her! What kind of cow is she out of? How has she done at shows?

We bought the heifer but I believe the dam was a blue roan shorthorn cross cow.  Not sure on the breeding there.  We have only showed her at the county fair and she was division champion.  She is now bred to an I-80 son.

The Big Show / Re: showing at the Missouri State Fair

We showed at the Missouri State Fair for the first time last year.  We typically just show at WI State fair.  Anyway...LOVED MO!  Great tie out area, ok wash racks, easy entry and parking for livestock exhibitors.  We stayed at the Best Western.  About 3 miles down the road.  Nice pool & morning breakfast I might add.  The only thing I did not like was the bedding they supplied.  Made the cattle really dirty, but was ok if you wet the night before.  Our group get a block of rooms reserved until mid July.....if you have trouble finding a room message me as I bet we could open up one of those rooms for you to reserve as we typically have extra.

The Big Show / Updated Picture: Gold Rush Bull Calf

Same calf at 3 months old.  Third time on the halter so he is not set up very well.....but he is learning.  Great disposition also!

The cow is a Pinzgauer so I will have to get her listed I know.  I have Crimson Tide's Registration number, but I thought I had to buy a Certificate????

But when I searched Crimson Tide on the ASA site he comes up as having Shorthorn registration papers as 50%.

The Big Show / Registering Crimson Tide Heifer as Shorthorn Plus ????
« on: January 16, 2014, 07:42:31 AM »
Does anyone know how to go about getting a Certificate on Crimson Tide to register his calves as Shorthorn Plus?  I do not see the Certificates offered anywhere.  Maybe I am missing something as the calves would only be 25%.  Thanks for any information.  I might be missing something........

The Big Show / Gold Rush Bull Calf

Just wanted to share a couple cellphone photos of our first Gold Rush Calf born this week, as I remember past posts of folks asking for some.  He is 25 hours old in the photos.  He knuckles over in the front, but he seems to be coming out of that.  He was 95 pounds at birth out of a second calf cow.

I had one estimate of $700/head from Madison, WI. to Madisonville, TX.  My buyer would like to find something for $500/head.  I will let you know what I find.

We have a heifer that needs to get from WI to TX so if something arises and your purchaser would like to split some costs just let me know.

As it goes with the livestock industry...you have your highs & then there are the lows.......
Cinnamon got a touch of the Pneumonia in this inconsistent weather we are having.  As we had always suspected...her lungs were underdeveloped and even with all the vets help...she could not overcome it....she passed away Friday 9/6/13.....you tell yourself not to get attached to them.....but..........it's been tough on our family to say the least.....

Well...Cinnamon made it to her first cattle show.  (More as a Mascot than anything.) She made the trip from Wisconsin to Missouri like a trooper.  To our surprise she was named Champion Percentage Female.  She is still short....but the judge kept saying how structurally correct she was.  My nine year old daughter created Cinnamon's own slogan "From Bathtub to Champion."  We are aware we still might have issues down the road...but we are enjoying life's little miracle at the moment......
