Very awesome steer would love to have him in my barn. I'm a  lil curious though, if I'm not mistaken, vickland's sold the same calf in September for $15000! Guyer/Bonham sure got their ($$$ ) mark up on him @$51000.

The Big Show / Georgia Jr Beef Furturity
« on: July 16, 2011, 04:08:21 PM »
Now that the Georgia Jr beef futurity is over, I would like to get some folks thoughts and opinions on the steer show? I've been the show cattle business for 25 years and know a lot about a Little and a little about a lot; Like any other show there is always some happy and unhappy people with the results. But after watching the steer show I didn't know if judge Blake Bloomberg was more like Ray Charles (blind) or Bill Clinton (political) ???? He surely missed some good ones and his top #5 calves were about as inconsistent as I ever seen. That's just my 2 cents so let me here yours.

The Big Show / Re: Putting finish on a steer
« on: June 20, 2011, 03:22:35 PM »
As rackranch said you need to switch to a finisher, and add some corn as well! We added Glu-coat last year to both of our steers rations of finisher and corn, we believed it helped. If or when you switch his ration up I would do it subtly and ease him into to it, so he's less likely to go off feed. Also remember when he starts putting on fat his daily gain is going to drop because fat slows them down and fat doesn't weigh as much as muscle.

The Big Show / Re: eyes on the money
« on: April 02, 2011, 09:33:08 PM »
My family had two eyes on the money  steers  last year that we showed and they were the most whacked out, looney, kicking, unsettled calves I've ever been apart of. They had the looks and won reserve champion @ our county with one of the  but we played hell feeding them and getting them too gain.  We've been in the show cattle business for over 25 years and let me tell you we will NEVER have anything to do with eyes on the money again. That's just my two cents, I'm sure others have had success with him .

The Big Show / Re: Opinions on Steer!
« on: January 21, 2011, 06:23:25 AM »
He looks good, very impressed. My only question is how is his structure? I personally seen this calf earlier in the year at a prosepct show and his rear wheels had some issues, full of fluid and couldn't walk correctly. Did you get this taken care of?
