The Big Show / Re: Trying to get back
« on: March 13, 2014, 08:04:05 AM »
Now if this "old schooler" can figure out all the new features it will be a miracle.  CAB...does the resident alien still check in to the planet once in a while?

For those who know me from way back at the beginning...I want to say hello and I have missed you all.  I am alive lol.  Hope to try to get back on the board and contribute again.  Long story why I was gone but, I am gonna try to get back here more often.  Made some life changes for the better.  Thank you for those of you that inquired about me :)

The Big Show / Class ring help
« on: August 15, 2013, 12:33:02 PM »
My daughter is a sophomore...that means class ring time.  Do any of you know of a class ring company that has a show calf or show lamb to use for the side of the ring?

The Big Show / Re: Starting a small club calf operation
« on: July 18, 2013, 08:50:45 AM »
Frostie is steering you in the right direction.  Start with some nice registered cows.  Don't go clubby on your cows and make sure they are clean.  Bees clubby if that is what you want, and with registered cows, you can more than likely register the female offspring.  Registered heifers are generally easier to market.  Good luck, it's a long process that generally doesn't happen over night unless you have a ton of money

The Big Show / Stock trailer values
« on: July 18, 2013, 08:46:24 AM »
Is there somewhere to find book value on a stock trailer?  I am looking at an older 1986 20' aluminum Featherlite stock trailer but have no idea the value of it.

The Big Show / 4 years ago tomorrow (Why is the SP Logo Red?)
« on: March 20, 2013, 06:55:19 AM »
4 years ago tomorrow, we lost one of our original moderators, and my best friend Cathy , better known as "Red".  Miss you girl....I will say we were so lucky that Jason brought her in on his "little venture" way back when lol.  Many of us jumped ship from other boards to see what she was squawking about lol.

Here's to you Red....miss you, love you, and consider myself a better person because I called you my friend. <beer>

There is an article on the front page on "breaking a calf the Red Method" or something like that...Red was a calf whisperer I swear.  Well worth the read :)

The Big Show / Re: Sullivan vs. Weaver fitting products
« on: October 26, 2012, 08:35:32 AM »
We use them both.  Weaver's red paints cann't be beat.  The blending abilities are phenominal.  Sullivan adhesives are hard to beat.

We use the Weaver can's (adhesive and all) when my little boy is going to help fit.  He can't spray the Sullivan can's with one hand.  Way to hard and by the time he sprays, sets can down, gets scotch comb...adhesive is dry and he's mad lol.  Even Sullivan's black paint is hard for him.  So...I keep both in the tack box and both kids are happy

The Big Show / Happy Birthday Red! Share a Memory!
« on: October 26, 2012, 08:13:34 AM »
Happy Birthday to one of the great ones we lost to early... Red was one of our original moderators and brought many of us with her to the planet <alien> ;D.  Many  of you neower members may not know her, but she was fabulous, no newbie ever was on long without Red giving you positive karma and a "welcome".

She was my best friend...Happy Birthday Cathy and thank you for helping Jason on "the Planet!" :'( (clapping) :'( (clapping)

Let's share a memory, there are so many.  Mine would be the day I delivered her corgi Woody to her. I'm pulling up to the driveway and this crazy woman is jumping up and down waving her hands yelling.  It was the 1st time I met her face to face  :) her laugh was intoxicating and contagious.  Poor Woody was squished between us as we hugged, cried, and laughed

The Big Show / Re: Let's hear some calf reports.
« on: October 18, 2012, 05:27:47 PM »
Hands down the best sire to put out functional, correct show heifers had to be Mercedez Benz.  I went to 3 states, 9 ranchels Is and the "Benz" heifers were hard to fault.  Didn't matter if they were out of Maine cows, charolais cows, or herefords they were all just good structured functional show heifers.  I will be using him next year.

I am a maine breeder and the two best bulls I used this year was once again Majors Money Man and my herd bull Majors Boom Box
