The Big Show / Kenbar Paul Jaremco
« on: May 31, 2020, 11:53:44 AM »
RIP Paul Micatas Jaremco born April 14, 1927 passed May 22,2020.

Paul along with younger brother Emil devoted their lifetime raising, developing, and promoting their Kenbar Polled Shorthorns. Dad Harry Jaremco, immigrated at the turn of the 20th century, an educated man who spoke 7 languages. The first Pb cows Beauty Marquisse and Dora Marquis cost Harry $50 each from the famed show herd of Lyle Robinson. By the mid 1960 the polled gene was added, first was Ball Dee Perfect Bet, then Ball Dee Perfect both sons of Carona Perfect. Strengthening the polled factor yet another Carona Perfect son the now famous Ball Dee Perfect Count, came from the Bergs of Four Point. The last of the Dave Ball cows would arrive in 1972. Ball Dee Royal Commando was purchased from a dairyman at age 9. Matlock Delux from the Haydocks, Red Willow Hero 2 from the Elliotts. Kenbar merchandised many head to the USA. Many miles where made by Paul to inspect the Perfect Count calves before they could be registered. Quiet, loyal and thoughtful Paul was a true Builder of the Breed.

i would suggest these cattle are Montana ranch cattle. Dual Purpose x beef Shorthorn.  Juda Ben Hur dam and Hey Jude (his sire) are full sisters, according to the registration paper issued! Linebred Bapton Constructor! Rothney Guthrie would be a small bull, he was a son of Calrossie Highland Piper out of an Imported cow from A.J.Marshalls. Hey Jude's head and horned are very similar to many of the dual purpose bulls of the era.

The ring steward should have advised Mr Bowman how negative his comments where. The Aussie breeder had the right idea, no microphone. I was showing sheep so missed it all. About half way thru a Hereford friend came over said they needed me at the ring! That i might help avert a crisis in the Shorthorn ring.  A comment he shared, ... white heifer calf 2nd in class.. 'she will take the breed back 10years' if shes that bad... maybe he is dyflexic, had her on the wrong end of the line-up. Pity for his disservice...

Bert Hanson's advertised his herd of dual purpose cattle in the Shorthorn World , often with milk records. Similar to those of Haumont//Cooksley cattle. Off to find a picture or 2

Winalot Rodney was a baby when I bought the Hennig herd. He was calf champion and champion bull at FarmFair International, was bought by MJ Conway and Partners at Canadian Western Agribition for $17,000.00 Semen was sent to Ireland and the UK.  His dam was Champion heifer calf, junior champion in yearling form, grand champion as 2year with calf at foot. Similar winning for his granddam. Rodney spent his working life at Hawkin Shorthorns at Glenavon SK.
