Mark :          Got to thinking about the Pilgrim and did really like the look's of the bull and also with these clubby bulls your not picking a sire for the whole cow herd usually ,and the clubby business there is not a more valuable tool than the semen jug with 10 units of this sire that works on certain type cows ..!!The Charolais breed and composite's are a very valuable tool to add things with more muscle and consistency ...THIS composite female out of PB  Charolais bull  And a half blood Charolais x WALK ALONE  cow ..!!   Ended up that the Charolais composite heifer was also THF and this sure didn't hurt her value being bred to JESSE JAMES...!!

Why wait to correct this heat difference when we have proven breeds that can take care of this very expensive problem right now ....Veterinary told me about a test in feedlot measuring the heat off  of black cattle , used some kind of ultra violet light to measure it .... He said they were measuring up to  15 degrees between dark cattle and light colored X cattle , said the red cattle had an advantage of half that ...The hot summer month's affect cattle whether in feedlot or in the pasture bulls trying to breed cow's ... With bull sale time approaching this is a factor to look at ...My opinion is this might be a reason for so many injured bulls during breeding season an the tremendous amount of credit given at the next year's sale for replacement ...I have raised bulls of the dark breed's and light colored breed's and replacement cost's are definitely higher in darker colored breed's ..!!

DIRECT HIT I sure apologize cause I never even thought of saying anything wrong with your opinion and you never know the out come of some of these citation's ...My main subject that if you really dig the cattle business your own observation over thee years can really be help full  to your business ,and probably more consistent results than from some of the salesmen and authorities trying to sell you something ...I have been in cattle business since 10 and going on 70...Some of the different procedures like AI'ING your best instructor is the cow, watch and compare different thing's that you try that sometimes work and other times don't ..  The appearance of the fluid from the cow when heat detecting, or synchronizing is like a book telling you what is going on ...IMO

Those hind legs might get better by weaning , with these clubby cattle you never know, he might be a cripple before he is finished ...You need to get in the game and get more experienced before you make to many calls...Not trying to be a know it all, but genetics are very tricky in the X bred's and some of our Purebreds are not very reliable either ...The smoke calf to me look's pretty good , the Canadian Charolais  is Canadian an usually  to big for the clubby route ... Will have some more suitable type Charolais bulls for breeding to X bred females in our bull Sale
March 19th in Burwell ,Ne. , been raising them quite a few years and know a lot of pedigree's and that is what you need to watch and the breed is consistent be cause they are pure bred's ..

The main fact that has been  missed or miss used in the ANGUS is the difference in sex ....IN most of the real cattle country we need the good ANGUS female OF THIRTY YEARS AGO  and been laughed at about my opinion and used to be a ANGUS BREEDER but I have seen to much in those years that explain the difference why the females are not like they use to be for making money IN OUR ENVIRONMENT .The truth is if your breeding program is intended to raise 600-700 weaning steers with high carcass traits the chance of raising good females is very unlikely in my opinion, and my idea of a good female is one that I don't own a IMPLEMENT  & IRRIGATION company to feed them to breed back and they stay around raising a calf 10 + years every year ...!!! pay attention to CAB he has some very good knowledge of this business ...I think the bad disposition didn't come from Angus but from the new genetic improvement's ...

Don't understand fully what you are after , good  4 year old  1000-1100 should have 100 lb. Charolais  calves till they  are 14-15 years of age .... Charolais calves don't need to be any bigger than that to raise  some very productive Charolais bull calves or heifers ....If you want information on the Lowlines and how profitable they are check with ADAMSON RANCH at CODY,NE.... The last I knew they had low line x KEY X  cow's were getting a premium at auction for these cattle for Butcher MEAT ..ALSO USING THEM TO PUT EMBRYO'S IN FOR DIFFERENT PEOPLE ...

GUNSMOKE sure could be one, haven't seen any white calves out of him yet .....  Not a fan of BLIZZARD ,to many problem's ...

Haven't used him but have semen is LT BULEGRASS ,and might be hard to get semen, might be some son's ...Ledger is great but not sure he is the pick for your type cow....LT  RIO  BRAVO ,  BUT ALSO HARD TO GET SEMEN ...we have a son that worked well for us and do have semen ...
I also have a March son this year that we think follow's his sire ,we call  him FRED REAL BRAVO .....

THE  KEYS   ALLSTATE has some depth and thickness with probably less frame  , some  calves don't travel well, but no bull is perfect and the cow is the other half of the equation .

GAME ON  IS a YOUNG BULL  ,with a lot of the right things....

THOMAS ranch has a young BLUEGRASS  son named RHINESTONE ....
