The Big Show / Had To Herd The Cows Out Of Flood With Helicopter
« on: May 27, 2015, 04:10:51 PM »
Took this picture Monday after we brought what was left of the cows up to high ground.  Took the picture from the working pens which is 1.5 miles from the Nueces River in Texas.  Only lost two head and feel pretty lucky.  Water is about three feet deep in picture.  Pray for those famines who have lost loved ones.  This one is bad.

Was she in heat the night before he brought?

I would ask Colby Collins that question.  I don't think anyone would know more about that bloodline than him.  Great guy too.  www.collins-cattle.com

The Big Show / Re: Ears Forward in the Show Ring
« on: May 04, 2015, 08:58:42 AM »
I agree, I even heard judges make that comment.   The ones you see with ears forward all the time may have a lot to do with the calves personality.  I'd rather have one laid back then on high alert, but there is a fine line sometimes.

Don't stress about having the ears forward the entire time. It is more important that they are set up correctly and stay set up until you are pulled in or asked to move forward. You can make some kissing or clicking noises to try and get them forward but some judges will tell you that is annoying. Good luck with your projects.

Just wondering why you expected a blocky 90# calve out of your angus cow? Hopefully calve grows well and has a high WW. Good luck.

I've seen a lot of good Starburst calves.  Yours could be good but hard for me to tell from that picture. Try to take a side profile with her feet in the correct position. Thx

Another red chip here too...

I like it the way it is. we all have the same rules and three guys throwing chips.  You get in or you don't.  Very few get really angry, it is a game most enjoy playing.  It aint broke, don't fix it!!!

Kinda hard to tell that by this post!!  ::)
If your going to get so mad that you have to start blowing up peoples email because you don't agree with them.... you might need to take a time out in the corner. I don't agree with a lot of people on here either with all their 3x heatwave cows bred back to 3x whisky sons but I don't go blowing peoples emails up and start making it personal. I wont call out wmw2014 cause im not that kinda guy.... but really dude grow up. No I haven't raised the Grand Champion bull steer or heifer at the Royal NAILE or Denver... but most people wont... doesn't mean I don't have my own opinion on bulls.... most I have seen in person or I trust the opinion of someone who has. So get off your high horse kids rocker grow a set of balls and suck up what you don't agree with.... or call me out on here... my name is Nick Davis id give you my number but im not in high school anymore and im already married and I don't need your baby momma drama  because you don't like the fact that I don't like Matt Lautner bulls.... dingle berry
