The Big Show / Re: Weak legs and not nursing
« on: January 13, 2014, 05:06:36 PM »
I had a calf last year that was the same way joints wise. When she was first born and tried to stand up to nurse it was like she was standing completely underneath herself so we had to hold her while she nursed. Her mom doesn't have any structure issues but it was a new bull that we tried for us (Two Tone) and that was the issue. her joints were huge, she was too straight, and you could hear her joints pop when she walked anywhere. I tried everything the vet had told and even researching on my own and getting the calf acupuncture, I know it sounds crazy but whatever works... We eventually had to put her down because she didn't have enough energy to walk anywhere. I hope it works out better for you! good luck

I'm sure its been mentioned on here 100x but I'm a little confused. I heard the club calf bulls would be there the 17th through the 20th but now I'm seeing on facebook that some of the bulls such as Tomahawk Chop are already there on display. What day is the best day to go see all the Lautner, Rogers, Trausch etc. bulls I really don't wanna miss seeing these great bulls! So please let me know Thanks :)

I had a super thick heifer calf outta two tone and her mom has never had any problems throwing anything with structure problems and we had to put her down due to her structure... she way too straight and could hardly walk. really sucks cause she woulda been the best calf we have ever had if she didn't have the structure problems...

The Big Show / Jobs in the show cattle industry
« on: July 02, 2013, 11:45:15 AM »
I was wondering if anyone knew of any jobs in the show cattle industry or in the animal science field that were possibly available in Northeastern Colorado? I currently go to NJC and I'm looking for a job that relates to something I really care about like show cattle while I'm still in school. Please let me know if anyone has anything! Thank you:)

yeah we have been adding more and he will smell the grain and only eat where there is baking soda but the vet said we cant put too much baking soda because it will start to hurt his stomach more than help and have an opposite effect.

My amen steer has stomach ulcers, the vet told us to put a tablespoon of baking soda on his feed in the morning and it has been working great for a week now. He just recently started to back off grain again... is there something stronger than baking soda that can keep him on feed till fair? I only have 71 days till fair and hes my best calf and needs to be finished! HELP!
