best calf in the pen... although right at the end, there was one really chunky, steery looking one that was neat...

swelll... should be a neat brood cow..

Does 1/4 Sim, actually get you anywhere, or does the Sim% deal have to be atleast half?

She'll be fun to see after 60-120days of feed. I think she'll be a great county fair project. I noticed the steer/bull standing there also in fact ran the video a couple of extra times to try to see him better.

First off thanks for the compliments, just starting raising the "club calves" and pretty proud of her. Also that steery looking calf you see at the end is actually a Copyright X Sunseeker Heifer that we raised.
Jody: I am not familiar with the simmental breed so to be honest I have no clue if being 1/4 would get her somewhere. However I was hoping to be able to register her 1/4 then breed to a PB and have a over 50% calf, not sure though.
Cruiser: We do have a pen full and they are all for sale. I will try to get videos of all of them this weekend. There are a 5 heifers for sale and 1 steer, they are priced from $900 up. I will make sure and let you know when I get them videos up.
CAB: I think you are right about the feed, once she hit it after weaning she really started to bloom. I can't wait to see what she looks like this summer.

Thanks for opinions

sounds like you are on the right track...

might want to up your bottom dollar- you're cutting yourself short...  Depending on where you live, I bet I could drive there, pick them up, haul them home, dump them at the  yards-- and still make more pure profit than you did.  The cattle market is great right now, no use giving them away...  if someone wants to steal them... then piss on them, chances are they won't be happy with a 900 dollar heifer any more than they would a 4000 one...

Thanks for opinions000

You can register her, but not show her. Most shows require 50% or higher. But like you said, if you breed her to a purebred, she will have a 5/8, and that can be shown. We never buy anything less than a half blood, and always breed to purebreds. That way our calves are always 3/4 or higher. That is, until my daughter bought an Angus cow in September with an Angus calf. Not sure now! But, if she chooses to go Simmental, then the cow will always be bred to a PB anyway  ;D So it still works.....

That is true with the high cattle market, I would more than likely be cutting myself short. And thanks firesweepranch for confirming that. I actually didn't realize she was even 1/4 till just the other day and I was just trying to come up with a hopeful scenario.
