33X is not short bodied just exceptionally deep sided. He tends to sire cattle with more than adequate length of body. For my personal taste the longer, deeper, and wider the better. The most weight on a moderate frame of 6 or less is our goal. 33X is a 6 frame and all of his calve tend to follow suit. He weighed 2450 lbs in the picture posted.

No I would not. In three calf crops we have never touched a calf. This year his heifers avg BW is 78 and bulls avg BW is 85. Some people would call that heifer safe. However, he will throw a mid 90 lb calf.

That's what I am looking for a 6 frame bull that's long wide and deep.

I wanted to post a picture of this 33X son. I just turned in his final data to the ASA. Yes he is sure the wrong color, and his BW is suitable for cows, but not heifers. However, he achieved this growth on 1 month of creep prior to weaning and 15 lbs of grain and free choice grass hay since. If he was solid red he would have sold a long time ago.

If it is growth and muscle you are after then 33X may be your answer.

Looks good to me red and white. No matter they all eat the same when the hides off. Too bad folks are color blind.

For some maternal, growth and volume. I would recommend several bulls:

Saskvalley Bonanza or a son
Eionmor Marquis or a son. We have semen on Studers Trendsetter 31T. His first daughters are calving and producing quite good.
The Diamond Prophecy calves I have seen are nice, too.

I am sure there are more that I haven't seen or have forgotten.

He is not "new" but still outcross and we sell a couple of packages per year. Trait leader w/ low accuracy, definately will add rib shape !

I sounds like the bull has worked well for you. Glad to here it. We decided to flush the mother of 33X. We are expecting 4 full siblings this spring and have quite a few eggs in the tank.

Had the opportunity to use Waukaru Orion 2047 for last spring's crop - best calves we've ever raised, hands-down! Retained the few daughters, looking forward to seeing how they turn out.

Commercial outfit here, have been using several Shorthorn AI sires over AngusXSimAngus cows; only using solid reds, but if it weren't for market pressures here, there definitely are some roan/rwm bulls I'd use in a heartbeat - many already mentioned previously in this thread.

The high selling bull in the Sun Country Bulls Sale this week was HC Bluebook 22B, a son of Waukaru Orion 2047, sold for $32,000. It was a great sale with bulls averaging $6791 and heifers $3579 (thumbsup) (100% clearance) The majority of the buyers were commercial!

Here is DMH Private Selection ET. He is a leader 21 son out of a Haumont cow. Obviously the maternity of Haumont is sound and can't really dog leader 21. I found him to be impressive.
