I have read many posts on using a donkey to train your steer, but my question is how do you  train a donkey do that?

It is the nature of a donkey to be very set in it's ways. ( don't say stubborn because donkey and mule folks don't like that term) Almost any donkey will make a calf breaker because they prefer to lead over being led. They like it only when it is their idea. Most donkeys will improve the more they are used, but some are just better than others. I prefer gelded jacks over all natural jacks, and I prefer jennets over gelded jacks. Most problems occur because the donkey gets mean and bites, not because they can"t get a calf broke to lead. Hope this answers your question. Earl

You don't train a donkey to do anything.  You simply have to convince it that it is his idea to do what you are wanting.  An old mule skinner said it is easier to train a wife than a donkey.  Tells you how much training might get done.  ::)

Thank you this information helps.  I ask because I did pay for a training donkey and now I would like another.  The guy I purchased our intact Jack from says he has another donkey but it is untrained.
