I was out in the pasture with the camera last night and snapped a few shots. The first one is of Shadybrook Miz Ruth. She is by Byland Steadfast and out od the Ruth cow family. The second is a March Ricky Bobby Drive heifer calf out of a Dividands Impact x Wakaru Maggie. The third is a Major Leroy from JIT with her April Ricky Bobby heifer calf. The fourth is of a May heifer calf out of a Pure Gold 2 year old and a Sonny x Elsie's Jade son. The Last one is a shot of the Pure Gold and her Gafa Captain McBest Mother. I hope I have resized them right. If not maybe someone could help me out. JIT gave me a crash course over the phone in between giving needles to receipts.

Jim

I got the resize okay but only one photo posted. That one is the Pure Gold 2 year old and her mother. Let's try again.

Looks good! Kind of hard to see them for all the grass though. That is probably the norm there though?? You have probably heard but we have had an amazing amount of moisture. Have to watch what what a person says though with all the grain farming left in the area.

Did you ever find a horse from your dad for Sadie?? I tell people when they ask that she is looking for one but we are not. (lol) Her heifer is even more quiet this year so the kids will want to ride her out to tie-outs every night.

Hilltop: I will have to jog the old mans memory. I told him to look for one in the spring but have not thought of it since. I will be talking to him on the weekend and will ask him again.

Grant; The calves and cows are really starting to come around since we turned them out for sure. We have lots of grass now but it is behind from other years due to the cool weather. The clover and trefoil in the bottom is amazing though. How many times did you fall in the mud today moving those receipts around?

I was quite pleased in that I did not fall once, but I was covered in mud from head to toe by the time I was done. I pulled CIDRs on 38 head this morning and every step took effort as the mud was almost to the top of my boots. I have to run 20 of them through again two days from now and give them a shot of Fertiline, and they will get embryos next Thursday. The other 18 will be AI'd so I am hoping we don't get what the weather man is forecasting, that being thunder showers tomorrow and heavy periods of rain on Thursday and Friday. That should be about when I should be AIing them!Bringing the cows in this morning, was like herding cats. Why is it that when the conditions get poor, the cows are harder to move?

Fortunately the chute and holding chutes are all inside, but it is just the problem of getting them to it. We usually don't have this kind of moisture to worry about so I have no idea who you people raise cattle in areas where it rains like this all the time. Our average rainfall ( including snow) is 12 inches, and we are getting close to that in the past few weeks. The pastures and hay are incredible, and I cannot imagine Ireland being any greener than we are now.
