Here are a few snapshots of a few critters I pictured this morning, while checking pastures.

1) HC Lady Louisa 12T ET - a flushmate sister to HC FL Touchdown 123T ET. She will be flushed on Tuesday to HC Timeline 17T ET. I have my fingers and toes crossed on this flush. We have 35 recips set up so I hope we get some embryos from this flush to implant

2) HC 5Y  - a January 28th ET bull calf  HC Timeline 17T ET X New Beginnings Elsies Jade  He had a 98 lb BW and was unassisted at birth.

3)  Another pic of 5Y  - He has tremendous muscle expression, especially through his lower quarter.

4) HC Timeline 17T ET on pasture 2011.

5) Elsie's Jade

Here are a few more:

1)  HC 6Y - an ET full brother to 5Y. BW 90 Lbs.  More moderate framed than 5Y and maybe even thicker topped than his brother. Some visitors have picked him as being the best of these two. This is not a great picture of him. Will keep trying to get a pic that is as good as he is.

2) HC 35Y- an ET heifer born March 20/11. Sired by CYT Pure Power and out of Hall Haven Sonny Sue 6N  She is pretty sweet. We have 5 other flushmates this year

3) Shadybrook Perfection 35S with a two year old heifer by Star P Matrix . I am super impressed with the flawless udders on our Matrix daughters. They are going to make great cows!

4) Waymar J&J Strawberry 96 at 15 years of age. She raised a great heifer calf last year and we held her open so we could flush her some more. She is a full Irish female.

5) HC RTR Strawberry Kiss 58P  - a full Irish daughter of Strawberry 96 who is now being flushed. She is as good a full Irish cow as we have ever owned.

My Jade x 80C heifer,(who's a maternal sister), has the same thickness as your 5Y bull calf. She is in calf at the moment to our  junior stock bull by 24S. Her full sib is in-calf to the Samurai 46T bull.

Nice cattle, Grant, as always!!    I was just looking at our Pioneer X Myrtle Bo bull calf before I came in the house.   He was born early last week and he's really colorful! I think he might be pretty darn good down the road.   A few weeks will tell us a lot more.   I've got an extremely busy week ahead with a meeting in Atlanta, GA  on Mon& Tues followed by another mtg in Des Moines on Tues. evening & Wed. morning and then our county fair the rest of the week.   As soon as things slow down a little I'll get some pics of him.  We were talking about a name for him tonight and thought perhaps we should name him after one of our Canadian relatives(they live near Archerwill).    What do you think of Herman, Orville, or Maxi?? Ha, Ha!!

I am a bit surprised at the length of head your heifer has from Elsie's jade and 80C.  She also looks like she has lots of frame, which is also something I was not expecting to see . Jade is very moderate framed as was 80C.

Oakbar Orville has a nice ring to it!  We can't figure out where the occasional wild color comes from in some Pioneer calves. The Saskvalley crew tell us that there was no wild colors in his background for many generations. There were some roans and some reds, but no wild markings, yet we have seen a few with wild red and white markings. Despite the colors, Pioneer continues to sire many of our very best calves.

I think it's more due to my photography skills, or lack thereof than the heifer. LOL. She is just two now and is really thick as well as framey. She and her sister are probably frame score 7. 80C has bred some big cattle over here, so maybe it's the sire that brought the size to the table.

Irish,

I love those stone fences. Must be nice to have those beautiful old things to keep your cow families in.

very nice!!   (clapping) Kind of shorthorns we look for when we breed our very commercial herd. ( the only purebred in the bunch are the bulls we use) I can't get pics downloaded because my files are too big and I am computer illeterate, however the bulls we are using are from Hatfield Shorthorns (Mr. Monty Thomson) We purchased Hatfield Governor 17X from him this spring and we are using Hatfield Snowman 11W from him as well this year ( our black angus bull got a hole in his stomach just before breeding  :( ) There are some really nice pics of them on Monty's webpage www.hatfieldclydesdales.com  . We really think they will help us to move our herd in the right direction.

;)  good to know the conception rates are good irishshorty....Even better to know the larger framed cattle are doing well over there. Next time I come across a nice prospect I will be sure to pass it along.

80C himself was a  moderate framed bull and Jade is definitely moderate framed. Not sure where the size and length of skull are coming from. Are there any more flushmates over there?  I think Roselish Goulding purchaseed all 10 embryos produced in this flush. I think some of them ended up in England as well. I sold 20 embryos to a breeder in England and he said he had an 80C X Elsies Jade calf due in a few weeks .

Probably the richer grass in Ireland produced more frame ??
