I have a couple clubby bred heifers I am looking to breed simmy. I really like the idea of A Step Up and Uno Mas on them. Curious what everyone thinks of the two and which you like better. Birth weights, weaning weights/growth, overall size, show appeal, dispositions, etc.

It's a little difficult to equally compare the two since Uno Mas is more of a heifer bull! I haven't had any Uno Mas calves yet, but I've been breeding all of my heifers to him this fall and will again in the spring. From what I've been hearing about Uno and from the looks of his numbers I would say that he would be a good one to use on heifers and would have smaller birthweight calves, if calving ease is an issue. I have had 5 Step calves so far and they are all stout and have a decent hair coat for a purebred Simmi. He will also give you a better shot at chrome if you're all about that deal! The bull calves I had weren't exactly what you would consider freak necked, but they had the width and power to back it up. The heifer was a sharp looking one and I was pretty devastated when I lost her at a few months due to a freak accident. I bred my Monopoly X Dream to Step Up this fall, so I will be able to tell you more about how he does on a clubby this time next year! I don't think you would be going wrong with either, but another one I am planning on using on my clubby based females is American Pride. The calves that I have had out of him have pretty clean necks with style and power to boot. He's in the tank for my Monopoly next year. Hope this helps ya out some! (thumbsup)

We just had our first Uno Mas last Monday and she was a 65 lb peach colored heifer, not sure how that happened, Dam is black and Uno Mas is Hetero black, must be something in the allele alignment.  She is vigorous, super friendly and gets better at each feeding.  Wasn't too sure the first day or two, but she is growing and improving every 12 hours.  Her dam is a Boardwalk out of an Ali x Kadabra x Total Play, a pretty clubby built TH carrier.  Her best calf yet and she has had two bulls that have been herd sires.  I'll post pictures when I get a chance.

Flushed our Dream On donor to A Step Up and all the females were "camel backs", real bad.  We kept them around thinking their spins would relax as they matured but that didn't happen. Sold them as a group in a commercial breds sale.

in my opinion Step is not a heifer bull, sure some of them come easy but he was all over the board for us.  He will also throw horns if the cow is not polled.  Out of the 5 that I had he made the attitudes worse on every one.  I would sure use Uno Mas before id use Step Up any day.  Gcc Whizard has been a solid bull for us, his calving numbers keep going up also.
