I have seen several and bought a few houston calves.  He will make them clean fronted smooth shouldered, big ribbed , moderate framed , sound and stout. I think he has a lot to offer the Simmi breed. Use him with confidence.

How is the bull's BW?  I like the look of his offspring A LOT.

He has a negative calving ease and +5 birthweight EPD, which tells me his is not calving ease. But his accuracies are low, with only 22 calves registered as of yet. I would like to hear more about him, he has an interesting pedigree!

That is what worries me about him.  I was just hoping that was a an early EPD and it has gone down a little bit the more he got used.

Our Houston calves have been from 75 to 85 with a few in the 90 but most in the 70s

I saw that red rose heifer he sired at the pride of the prairie sale and she was one of the best there. Definitely my pick of the sale for sure.  Be interesting to see what happens in his future.

Are the 88 and 94% genetics so tapped out that you have to infuse more crossbreds?

Xbar, no one cares about your hatred of cross bred bulls on this particular thread. From the calves I've saw from this bull, I wouldn't care if his highest percentage of any breed was 5%. So, ur barking up the wrong tree here sonny buck!!

Nah, they were grading (down) the continentals long before the ASA opened up the books.  And SH genetics were far from being tapped out- hence, the greatly-superior, non infused Canadian Shorthorn genetics we have today.  As in anything, cheaters will always look for shortcuts.

Please don't let this person upset you with his post that has nothing to do with the original question or add anything of value to the question at hand. Other than the children who are looking for advice and don't know any better the rest of us ignore him 90 percent of the time.

Thanks for bringing this bull to our attention.  He looks like he could cross several different ways and make some very good cattle for both club calf and commercial breeders.  Unlike the Shorthorns, which you can't give away at the sale barns here in Texas.

I second this motion! If the calves are good and pay the bills I don't care at all what % the bull is

I really like this bull in his video. From a genetic standpoint he should be good in producing great looking cattle. His females should be especially nice and make unique show steer making mommas. Those are tried and proven genetics.

One of the owners sent me this may bull calf out of a copper penny. I think this calf would suit about any one. (thumbsup)

Xbar , I asked about other peoples views about offspring they had "seen". You are off topic. And who are you to question my principles? Cattle is a hobby to me that I try to make a few extra bucks on. My principles go way beyond the cattle business.

It has everything to do with the topic at hand. You have no principle, and I subscribe to a breeding philosophy.  It's understandable we have our differences.

Please just stop forcing "your" philosophy down our throats on EVERY thread. Lots of us went through this with other posters and TH years ago. Just getting sick of how clubby guys are doing it all wrong.
