Looking for  moderate framed red simmental bull with power that still has acceptable birth wt and CE epd's, ok milk numbers and decent growth and carcass numbers and solid phenotype to cross with red angus to make f1's.  Any bulls I need to be evaluating?

Red Iron is a bull used to down size.  If that is what you want he may work.
A better all around red simmy bull from ABS is DCR Highlander IMO.  He has more performance and the characteristics you want. joe Doll has good cattle and he is a fine example.

Take a look at WS Beef Maker.
Yes, a bull I have seen in their catalog, but do not like the picture of his dam's udder, nor the depth of neck of progeny listed and hair quality.  Willing to give up some epd's for some other details.  Also like the smaller frame listed for RED IRON.

Does anyone know how GCF MR. Amigo would work on Red Angus cattle?
Amigo will give you big gutted heifers, but will not add muscle in our experience, plus his milk EPD tanks! He is at a negative 8! We have two Amigo calves, and are real happy with both of them. Both were out of first calf heifer and came small, and have done well. The picture is a feb bull calf that we have for sale. His dam is a Pacesetter (Shear Force son), so his milk numbers did not totally tank. I think he will make a real nice heifer bull!

Little known bull that has worked well is a bull called Akonian AmanRa.  I have seen what his calves do.  He is a huge topped bull with some grow.  They have calved him from heifers and also used his heifers as replacements.  I think he is a redcoat son.

KS Sundance Kid S28 and CCR Red Line 5338U might also work well in that situation.

What do the Sundance Kid calves look like as a sire group?  Frame, depth, width, structure, udder, hair?

We have a Red Simmental bulll with great numbers.  His first calves are hitting the ground, coming moderatly small with lots of muscle and expression.  If you have any doubts ask Firesweep Ranch about him as they plan to bred a heifer to the bull next weekend.  If you want more information send an email to [email protected]  and we will forward pictures and epd information.  Semen avaliable, stored at Genex in Strafford, MO.

This bull is a meat wagon! And even better, he is a Shear Force son, so calving ease deluxe and great mothers! We have a Shear Force daughter and Pacesetter (Shear Force son) daughter, and BOTH milk heavy, calved small, and weaned heavy calves. In fact, the red bull in the picture below (by Amigo) is a first calf out of our Pacesetter cow. We think our Upgrade half blood will be an EXCELLENT cross with this bull! Definitely one to use!
Didn't Coach Mac's niece breed her heifer to him also?

I don't know if you're still looking for a red Simmental bull but my uncle just bought an interest in this guy, Hook's Yukon 80Y. Sired by Beef King and out of the Mika donor. He's going to be collected at Origen. Really solid EPD profile and great performance indexes. You can see his pedigree and EPDs with the first link and his performance data listed on the hook's web site. If you don't mind sampling an unproven bull he's definitely one of the most complete red Simmental bulls I've seen in awhile.

Nice! Very nice set of EPD's, but of course with Shear Force in his pedigree I would love him! Keep us updated on him. He looks very mature in his picture for a yearling!
