It is a very sad day for all firefighters and families, with the tragic death of the 19 in the Arizona fire. It hits close to home, since my husband is a retired career firefighter. For 26 years, he dedicated his life to saving others, a risk I knew when I married him. Two times he was injured on a fire, and both times the brotherhood surrounded us with everything we needed to get through the event. They are family, whether you know them or not. You hurt, they are there for you! Each and every wild-land fire he went out to, I hoped to never see the chief pull into my driveway. I praise God that he is now retired from that career, but the fire still runs in his veins. He cried last night, and I am not ashamed to say it! We both did.
Please join me in saying a prayer for the wives and children of these men.

When I watch the fireworks this year, the beauty and splendor will remind of the spirit of the 19 firefighters.  If you need to find a hero, look no further than your local fire department, volunteer or paid.

May the loved ones they left behind be comforted and surrounded by loved ones.

Heartbreaking agony to think of all who lost so much. It hurts to think of all of the young kids that lost their Dad's Sunday.
