My county fair is coming up and I was wondering if anyone with galloways and/ or long haired cattle have any suggestions for bedding. The fair grounds provide wood chips but I was thinking to use some saw dust so that it is easier to blow it out of my galloways' hair. But I would love some feed back on what other people think!

We use the pellet horse bedding.  Cut a small hole in the bag and fill with water.  They swell up and turn into a fine almost sandlike bedding.  They look nice and pack well.

How many bags do you use for a stall?

At least 6 bags per calf.  Use it to top dress over coarse or large flake bedding.  I know it sounds expensive but it's well worth it.

The coarser the bedding the better.  The fine wood slivers can be a real pain to get out.
