Heading out in a few hours and want to wish everyone safe travels.  Look forward to seeing Chambero, Twistedshowstock, Showstopper, and Bart.  I would like meet any other SP members that might be attending this year as well.  My wife is in charge of the steer division so if any Families have any questions about the cattle shows or banquet in general just ask for Dr. Fletcher and I will get you the answer.  I will also be roaming the barn doing Chiropractic work on all species so if you wanna check it out feel free to look me up and you can observe how well it works.

Safe Travels

Looking forward to seeing you rack as well as the other Texas buddies! And looking forward to seeing a chiropractic demonstration as well! Heard alot of good things about that practice and your work in specific! My step mom is judging the pageant so we have been here since last night and will be around all week!

We're stuck in the back of the barn (the addition) if anyone wants to find us.

Is the Belt Buckle still the elite Texas jackpot show?  We loaded up a heifer and made the trip from SE Okla in '98 or '99. There were around six hundred head total in the Show. We were lucky enough to have the Res Maine-Anjou.

How is the show nowadays?

He was a solid gold from maples in Alabama and bobby Maddox (Goodson family)- gold calf super nice I have a video but it's too large to load

Aaok- it is but the best of the best stay at home these days and you wouldn't recognize it numbers wise- we have been going the last 6 years and I personally have seen a decrease with my own 2 eyes in that time (including our family going to watch as opposed to taking cattle for 2 years in a row now)

It's still the largest but its not the best choice to take an out of state fellow and try to convince him Texas cattle are all they are said to be, they will be disappointed (I say this being from Texas)- the good ones are good don't get me wrong (better than any ill ever have) but you know there Is better ones hidden away

And the bottom end.... Would make a salebarn bidder think twice. They are absolutely god awful

Dan, they don't let us Okies (or anyone else outside of Texas) show there anymore.  We went a couple of times back in the day, too.  We've gone down a few times in the past few years to help some family down there, and would've taken some of our own if we could.  But, it's kinda nice not to have our own to take care of once in awhile.  Didn't make it down this year though.

Numbers were substatially up again this year.  When heifers showed up yesterday during steer show there wasnt room to cuss a cat in the barns.

There were over 500 steers and over 700 heifers.

David, how about the Lawton show in December?  Still cattle from several States. How are the numbers?

Lawton was back up a little last time. I believe the chamber of commerce pulled out because their motel tax expired, and it almost didn't happen. It had gotten really, really low on numbers the year or two before that.  It does still draw a few Texas, Kansas, and Missouri exhibitors - that was one of the things that kept 'em hangin on, I think.  I can remember years with cattle from as far as California and Wisconsin (maybe farther).  That weekend's been tough for us lately due to several things happening that week before, so we haven't been in awhile.  Hopefully we can make it this time

Did Barker do the pictures there this year?  Been looking to find them online without any success.  Thanks.

Yes he did.  I thought he had retired but he was there.  Good luck finding them - when he was fully active he'd barely moved up from the stone age......

Last year he was putting them online each night after the show, since I couldn't find them I thought there may have been a different photographer.
