We used patron,  a schaff bred calf yardley bought.  Calves sure have some muscle, not overly large.  Used Johnny cash,  really like  the heifers,  no bulls yet.

Most of my calves ended up being bulls but I have a real good first n goal heifer calf, and an American classic bull calf. The AC bull could run with the clubbys as far as power goes to tell you the truth.

Pretty strong group of calves off of both of the MOGCK Bullseye sons we used. Bruns Blaster (Genex) and a son that I bought to walk clean-up last year. Stout, jet black, and hairy calves.

Glad to hear I wasn't the only one who only got bull calves.  We had a more than 2 to 1 ratio of bulls to heifers. Not great for expansion.

Bullseye has another son that looks good...Hoover No Doubt.
I haven't used him but thinking about it.

SAV Patron is pretty nice. I have a little bull calf by SAV Pursuit, also by SAV Pioneer that I really like.  When people talk about Final Answer sons they don't talk about Pioneer but he has some nice calves...I have looked at SAV Thunderbird (by Final Answer) and SAV Platinum, who is by Pioneer and I am leaning towards Platinum.  I think SAV Pursuit would have had a lot more calves on the ground if he was owned by Genex, Select or ABS.

I really like our EXAR Classen's.
Silveira Style calves are nice, not as good as the Classens out of the same cow.
I've always liked our Brilliance calves.

Pioneer is in my opinion, the best son of Final answer in terms of useful, predictable progeny, calving ease, growth, and maternal function.  They make great cows and the bulls are just as good.  All while having adequate growth and thickness.

Cowboy,
What do you think of Pursuit?  I know Herbster paid a lot of money for his mother.

I haven't seen any of his progeny but I am certainly familiar with his dam.  I guess my question is, why use him vs Pioneer himself?  Worse performance, same calving ease.  The only reason I can think of is to add the influence of his dam. She's a great cow but certainly not uniquely bred.  004 x Bismark's dam is a great combo but I have enough of that stuff between using Resource (004 dam), Bismarck, Pioneer, and Net Worth (004 son).

I don't intend to hi-jack the thread but some of you sound like you may have some knowledge of Resource.  I'm interested in using him and would like to know where he fits in terms of what he nicks best with.  Any particular pedigrees he seems to really work well on?  What type of cow crosses best, big framed?, angular?, etc?  Do the calves seem to follow the cow in type or is he prepotent in that regard?  Any thoughts would be welcome.  Including, is his brother Renown a better choice for potential replacements?

Cowboy,
You are exactly right...I was wondering if Pursuit's mother was so outstanding that I would want to add her genetics.  Pursuit looks a little smoother...you can't always tell by photos...not sure if there are videos on either bull.

By the way, any problems calving out Resource daughters?  Still haven't seen any complaints from anyone with Resource heifers regarding calving problems.
