What are everyones thoughts on the bulls in the herd issue? Finally just got mine and have enjoyed going thro it. I like the IMF bull but his testicles look small IMO.  The 322 bull is better than his picture.  Kaper 4508 bull looks like he could do alot of good. Major Leroy looked very good. I too thought he was taller.  Hill Haven Stout is neat with the shot of Lincoln Red in there. American Muscle looks cool. I think the picture of Fringe is one of the best I have ever seen for a semen add. What a sharp lookin bull. If I bred clubbies I would be using him for sure. Also the pic of Proud Venture on the cover is a great photo.

My girlfriend who is a horse trainer and knows nothing about cows likes Visa's Tucker bull because he has and I quote "nice texture to him". She said the same thing about the Mulberry bull for Red Angus. She cracks me up. She can't explain what she means but she knows it when she sees it! Always interesting to get a opinion from someone who has no idea what they are looking at lol.

Good issue over all. Two thumbs up

Tell the "horse whisperer" that Visa looks better in person. I saw him this past MAy- prefer the Top Dog calves over Visa. Visa does have a very long stride and might feel like a smoothier ride but she should wait and have that baby 1st.

I loved ALbaughs ad,

I liked the looks of Moore's new bull and Big John from Studers.

One of Hillhavens young bull calves look kinda neat

a few think A&T had "cow porn" in there ad? VEry funny we should put that in the Angus Journal or hack into Angus.org and make that the home page?

The pic of HUBs is awesome ;)

I was going to count the number of ads that used "out cross" or total outcross

I would agree refreshing new ideas in the July issue

I just caught the Albaugh ad, that is funny. So is the A@T ad idea. I don't think the angus would like it tho. But great idea <beer>

The whisperer is almost done riding till after the baby. Doc said no more riding after 24 weeks. Shes not very happy about it. She thinks she can ride a horse till the baby is born <cowboy>

The best bull i would say NPS Durango 744 cbh , by far the best and he just died so you better order and stock you tanks asap.

The best bull alive would be DF Waco, to bad he is syndicated and its gonna cost some bucks to get one of his progeny.

My favorite prospect is the DMH Private Selection, just because he is a TPS Cornet Leader 21st son, so that will work awesome on my heifers and well just about everything.

But we can not forget the Priam Royal Leader, just a great history with that bull.

I really liked the IMF bull and Patent of Wakaru's.  The big john and soul train from studers look really cool.  The alta cedar lad bull is up there also.  The saskvally unique bull really interests me with those kind of bw and ce numbers.

I forgot to mention Durango. He lived a long time and I bet you will see his semen go way up in price. I have never used the bull but he must do alot of things right because he has stuck around along time. What are the pros and cons of the bull? What a oddity that he was TH clean but glad he was.

The whisperer says she is now going to ride until the baby is born. She smiled when I told her about your mom. <rock>

Waco's mama looks like a really good cow.

Soul Train looks like a hog. Studer's seem to have it going on.

The pros of Durango were the 10 units in my tank .... the cons are I traded those 10 units for a side of bacon about 3 weeks ago? Had no Idea the value might increase

I am not going to loose sleep over this so dont look for my 3 am posts ... I will sleep tonight.

I don't think it's that big of an oddity. I have a son of Deerpark Improver out of Rose T90 also, that is clean & a full Irish son of 57th out of a granddaughter of Improver that is clean.

I stand corrected. I guess it happens more than I was aware. I thought there were alot of carriers out of that mating. Are you using those bulls now? Or in the past?  I got into Shorthorn a few years before the whole TH thing went down. I have always just stayed away from the 57 line as well as Stinger and the Stuff/ Vision.  Doc would you consider Durango the best bull to come out of the 57 line? Who would you pick? Just pickin your brain on this rainy morning.

I would have to say that for new bulls,  Unique and Big John certainly caught my eye.  I think they could have something valueable to offer.  I was also impressed with the picture of Leroy and also expected him to be a little bigger framed.

I geuss you could say that I'm prejudice on Durango as being I am one of the owners. But he sure has done a lot of good for a lot of different people. As far as those other bulls go that I was talking about ( NPS Improvers Stride & JJ Denim) , I still use them thru ai. I just sold a flush out of an full Irish, Irish Mist dtr & the gentleman flushed her to the Denim bull. The Stride dtrs make really nice cows with perfect udders, he also sired a steer that had the largest ribeye out of about 760 head in a feedout in IN.
To me the Improver line was always known for the maternal side with cows that had good udders & extended front ends. The 57th line was always known for more moderate frame & more muscling. JMO.

Thanks Doc. I did not know you were a owner of Durango. That was a pretty good move on your part lol. I thought just Steinke's and Martindale owned him. Sounds to me like I would prefer the 57th line.

I noticed that there were several maternal bros to JPJ being advertised. Are they transplanting his dam? Who owns her? Is she consisent? Would she work with a Red Angus bull?

The 57th and Rose lines also worked very well with the rodeo-Sonny-and semi clubby breeding-It looks like this breeding really works on some of the Canadian cattle-although the only ones recently Ive seen-go back to Salute O0

Tell me when your glossary of Ozarkian language  will be published again?  ;)
I would throw Kolhsteadt's Diamond REgal Legend  in with Top Dog and Jazz for a 3 way tie of 5th place. I loved the job he was doing . I have to review my country again for a pic of Tracker?
