If you had to pick one carrier bull to make STEERS (TH only) w/ a BW under 90 what do you choose? I am considering breeding half my cows to carriers nest year to see the difference. My ideas are: General Lee, Bodacious, I believe, Monopoly Money, Two Tone, BIM, Walks Alone, Rajun Cajun.................

I also have fairly moderate sized cows 1200-1300 mature so Walks Alone might be to small? Also I dont want shorty colors so no man amongst boys and no Shorthorns.

Being from Texas I would tell you solid gold is the best one out there, I don't know what his birthweight is but he's the real deal

I have heard (not used) that Smilin Bob is one of the most consistent bulls...maybe not as many "freaks" but just good calves. He isn't used as much because he isn't from one of the "Big 3"

Edit: I'd also look into Walkie Talkie if I was you. He is a Walks Alone son owned by Lautner's....the few calves I have seen have been very good!

Monopoly has one of the best track records and his clones are reasonably priced.
If the original poster is willing to spend the $50 on the clones I would def suggest this. My opinion of Smilin Bob was for a $25 bull.

still shouldent effect it that much
supply and demand. high demand for eye candy now that everyone has seen his calves, limited quantity of semen now that he is dead.

I thought I saw a full brother or sister to him on Trausch blog a few days ago? maybe not? I would look at Sugar Rush. Walks alone x eye candy's full sister..... He has the look that could do it all... He isn't a really small framed bull either.... I would expect very big things out of him next few years.

Monopoly, Walks alone, and heat wave. Hands down. I would highly consider Smilin Bob. That prospect steer of Kroupa's in Denver was AMAZING! Best calf I have ever seen. Eye candy honestly jut doesn't give the calves enough. There's a reason he doesn't have as many winners as other bulls. Especially with all the semen being used. He is crazy overrated.
