He's more consistent, he works on more types of cows, and his calves are well rounded and get better with age, unlike eye candy where they sell easy as babies and disappear into thin air when fat shows come around and they don't show up

I know there's exceptions to every rule

Especially with a bull that is brand new and unproven. And the eye candy thing about disappearing as fats couldn't be truer.

I have never looked into his pedigree in depth but I have seen some flat amazing fats out of Naughty Pine. But never any at the bigger shows. Can anyone tell me the story why?

I didnt mean to hijack the thread. Sorry

I really like Monopoly but his BW is too much for me. Eye Candy doesnt work for me because my target show will be as fat as I can get the steers. Also whats wrong with General Lee? I am wondering if he is too moderate for my cows like WA is and Monopoly might be too.

Just going to say every clubby bull will throw big ones....and those BW in the sire magazines are probably lowered...

Probably all your cows are too moderate for any clubby bull.

The thing that scares me about clubby bulls is 125 bw out of moderate cows and lower growth being over selected for.

I can't really figure out why an industry would want to commit suicide by not selling male only semen.

In the 70s and 80s people didn't worry so much about bw because bigger calves were able to win  but now we have the bigger bw and they don't grow if stacked too clubby.

Scary. on the other hand it creates opportunity.

On Matt Lautners blog there was a video about the 'breeder of the year' competition. One Monopoly steer (which looked much larger than his sire) was said to be the most winning steer in history with 27 grand championship wins, WOW! I wonder if they will clone him and use him as an AI stud.

(edit) He is Monopoly X Ali. Hopefully he is cloned.

What monopoly has done is amazing, but he does have limitations. Like many clubby bulls he an make them too puddy, not enough performance. Idc how many people say that the steers being picked today don't need to be that big the steer needs to grow! Monopoly does not work on small cows. And he does not work on angus and he does not work on cows needing a lot of power. He will work on everything else though.

General lee is a pos. Matt doctered up his promo pic good. Ive seen / heard people thoughts on him. If you see him im person you wouldnt like him at all. My 2 cents. I think salty dog is under used... he throws amazing calves that can win all year. And on eye candy trauschs son had a damn nice fat steer at the royal this year
