I was wondering what works best for everyone when it comes to heat detection? What gives you the most accurate reading and hold up the best over time and in wet weather?

Im with GoWyo, Estrotect patches are the way to go. I usually will throw some on after I breed one and turn them out in the pasture to see if they get bred by the bulls and they will usually hold on for a couple months before they fall off. I also usually will spray them with strong adhesive or tail adhesive before I put them on to give them a little extra stick.

The Ka-Mar glue for the old Ka-Mar heat detectors will hold the Estrotect stickers on for a couple of months too for followup to see if they came back in and bred by clean up bull.

I like the standing heat patch a little better.  Harder to scratch off.  I rub the dust off spray with tail adhesive and stick em on.

I am very lucky to have a dad that is retired. We caught 21 cows standing heat in 22 days! Takes a lot of time but sure is handy for us. Good luck!

A gomer bull w kamar's and estrotects as long as you apply them when they are warm.  I also have 3 cows that will ride the others till all the hair is worn off, an easy sign.
