I have a blaze face simmi heifer that I want to bred to a Red Simmi bull but I'm not sure which one I like. If anyone has any opinions on their favorite Red Simmi bull that would be much appreciated!

Winchester ! Full brother to Remington Red Label. Since you said heifer he would be my choice. Have a couple Red Label heifers calving now and they are gonna be some excellent cows. Only kicker is Dream On is the sire of both bulls so I don't know what breeding your heifer is ? Might change the equation !

Tell us more about your heifer. What do you want from the resulting calf? Maternal, terminal, what? There are tons of good red bulls out there but you need to know what your end result is.

Tell you what...we've bred to several red bulls through the years.  Had our first WS Beefmaker calf this year.  Have a red heifer that is as good as any red one we've ever had...Beefmaker would be one to think about.

for a heifer, Top Gun's sire, TNT Gunner is heifer safe;
if you happen to get a heifer calf, she will be an awesome cow;
we have a number of them...they are prob not fancy enough for a show
heifer but they make the very best cows.

We are really liking our Amigo calves!  We used him on first calf heifers with no problems and the calves seem to have a lot of grow.. but he is another DO son

If your heifer is red, then there is a chance you could get a red calf out of a heterozygous bull too. If you want to take the chance, there are some good hetero bulls out there. If you want maternal, I would say Shear Force. Showy, I would say Built Right, Trademark or Voyager.

If you want Performance/Maternal:

If you want Showy:

If you didn't have a heifer and wanted a show prospect, I would say STF Dominance (If you could get semen) or STF Dominique. Or this guy: http://cattlevisions.com/Simmental/steelshot.php
Not the best EPD wise, but I have seen some really good looking show prospects..

I also like Red Label. Haven't seen too many Winchester calves.

Our red bull we just sold was a really nice Amigo bull. Cherry red, big guts, great growth and out of a first calf heifer. Amigo has a negative milk number though.

Amigo is one of my favorite bulls. We use him alot and had great success with conception, calving ease, growth and we will be calving out his daughters in the future. He throws alot of rib and alot of bone.  I liked him when he was a denver pen bull, i liked him when he Iowa state fair and i like hiim when he won the hill show at denver, i love him because of his calves. I even flushed a heatwave/simmi cow of mine to him and are getting calves now out of him.

I think some red angus bred to him would make some awesome half bloods

Our Amigo Senior Yearling as a calf this past year was quite big in her class. (Nov)  Massive bone, decent hair for sim.  Ended up going OK in the ring but she is reg as a 3/4 blood, thus showing as %.  She was out of a commercial pb simmental cow and got dropped a few shows when running into the real fancy true 1/2 blood simmies.  Now as an upcoming bred heifer, she has really became much more moderate in her frame.  We havent measured her out but I am guess a frame difference from last summer.  You cant fault her docility.  A great calf for my daughter to show and my kids to work with and around.  We like her and have her dam bred back to Amigo for a fall calf.  We like him.

It depends on what  you're trying to do.
I'm with husker1; as a commercial cattle producer(not into the showring thing), WS Beefmaker(a Shear Force son) would be my current top choice for a red Simmental bull.  Good CED/BW/CEM, good WW/YW, high Mrb & REA, decent Shr(tenderness), really high API &TI.  Looks like he'd do most of the things I'd want a bull to do - sire calves that get here alive, grow well, have good carcass characteristics, and his daughters would be worth keeping.  With his high accuracies, there shouldn't be any surprises, either.

I like the looks of the Red 3/4 Simmi HILCO Power Booster 21XX, a son of Ebony's Premium Blend, don't know if he will work on heifers but he looks good.
