What is everyone's opinion on the best TH & PHA Free bull to used to still have great calf prospects, that will also work on a variety of different cow types?

Wow you'll get a thousand different responses to this one!
We have an awesome bull in our pasture that's produced nice show calves and is PHA and THAF. Guess it just depends what breed and what your preference is. If your looking for something that goes well with several different breeds I would think Maine or Shorthorn. Anyone second that?

I''ll vote for Hairy Bear on this one. With a minimum of five son's at stud,he would surely rank right up there. The thing I like about him,he seems to work better than average on all the normal breeds, whether straight bred or 2 way crosses. There are others that will get votes, and deservedly so,just wanted this one to get his due,as he seems to slip through the cracks when discussing good solid clubbie bulls.

I vote Who made Who. But Hairy Bear is also a great candidate.

When we stopped at the Nichols stud in IA a couple weeks ago, we saw the Repair Man that Putz's in IA own, bred by Willers.  http://putzlivestock.com/cattle.htm#repairman  He was probably the most impressive yearling bull I saw that day, and that included a stop at Hawkeye as well.  He had a little more size and performance to him, but was still cool made and thick.  He's bred a little different than most, so could be used on a variety of females.  Will be interesting to see how he gets used and what those calves will look like next year!!

If we are talking about A.I. "Club Calf Sires" that are being used today, I don't think there are that many.

This year, we are trying HIRED MAN.

I'm a little biased but I'm using a little FSF Hardline (TH and PHA Free) and See-N-Starz (Star Power x Heat Wave's dam TH and PHA free)

Hairy Bear is my pick, too. Like TMJ says, he's one that works in alot of different scenarios.  Who Made Who and Dr Who are great bulls as well, but in my experience they aren't quite as consistent.
