I have a four month old holstein calf. I really think that he is in some way visually impaired. Is there any way I can test him or find out if this is the case? Thanks.

Do you think he is totally blind,or just troubled? If you are thinking he is totally blind, hold your hand or finger in front of his eye and make quick movements toward the eye without actually touching the eye or eyelashes. If he is seing well then he should blink or flinch, but you have to be careful not to touch his eye or eyelashes because the touch in that area will trigger the blink reflex as well.
If you are thinking he is having trouble but not actually totally blind it can be pretty difficult to determine, you would pretty much just have to come to a conclusion based on your observations as to what his sight level is. I am by no means an occular specialist but I am not aware of any more intricate tests for eyesight in cattle!

He seems to flinch when I make movements towards his eyes but when I call him or make noises from far away, he seems to be trying to see where I am. He also moo's alot when he hears voices. He may just be very spoiled but I but think there is some type of visual impairment.
