Blower Hose

We have a double blower we purchased a year ago and have used very little, 6 - 8 calves.  Most of our calves are worked through July and Aug. and sold in early Sept.  We do not show.  We are having trouble with the hose.  It is getting holes blown through it.  We tape it with duct tape and the tape gets real hot.  It is the large diameter hose made for a double blower and we put a regular, smaller diameter on the end to make it easier to handle.  We have left it in the barn, dry, covered in the winter, up off the concrete.  Any ideas of what might be wrong or has anyone else experienced problems with these hoses?  Is the smaller hose restricting air flow too much?  When in use the hose is still looped on the stand as we are working calves right by the blowers.

What nozzle do you have on the small hose?  I would use the nozzle for the double blower and not the single blower nozzle.

There is a specific hose for what you're trying to do. It comes down to the end. It's too much pressure for the single blower nozzle.

Sometimes Sullivan's has bad batches of hoses.  If it is less than a couple years old, work with them and see if you can get it replaced.  We replaced a small hose a couple of years ago at the National Western working directly with Sullivans.

Talked to Sullivan's before I read the replies, but thanks for offering your help.  They knew right away what we did after I described our set-up.  With a double blower you have two options.  1.) Use only the 15', two inch diameter hose intended for a double blower; or 2.) Use the 15' plus the 6', one and a half inch diameter hose extension.  Never put a 10' or longer small diameter on the end of the large diameter as it will create too much restriction and cause excessive heat buildup.  The 6' might even be designed different than a regular single blower hose to allow less restriction.  My wife finds the large hose is hard to handle when blowing out several calves at a time, so the 6' extension solves that without compromising air flow.  So I ordered both so she doesn't boycott, or worse yet, quit.  Thanks again for your opinions.

Are you using the heater in the blower as well, or just air.

We had the same trouble with our single blower and talked to the local Sullivan's dealer and he said they had a truck load of bad hoses and replaced it free of charge

OK, now what!!!!!  Ordered a complete hose assembly from Sullivan, large hose, small 6'. blower tip.  Received them Friday, 8/16, used twice on 3 calves each time and the small hose has a hole near the end 6" from the tip.  What the h*** is going on?  The tip they sent is a regular size that is used with a single blower.  Is that the problem?  Should the tip have a larger output opening?  I can't understand with the narrow coupler going from the large to the small hose, that the hose after this coupling (small one) can't take the pressure.
