« on: March 07, 2011, 11:07:26 PM »
Trying to figure out what to breed my Dirty Hairy heifer to this spring for her second calf.  She should calve any day with a Northern Improvement calf.  Any ideas??

That was my original thought as well.  My concern was that both Dirty Hairy and Thriller are sired by Ali.    I have always tried to use bulls that had completely different bloodlines than the cows.  Is that too much of one bull in the pedigree?

I wouldn't do anything with the same blood lines... Try looking at All Aboard- he's a great bull

Give Master of Puppets a try. He is a full brother to Monopoly, All Aboard, Park Place, and Highliner and would work great on your Dirty Hairy.

It would just be her 2nd calf.  Do I need to worry about birthweights with those bulls?

if the birth weight is huge i wouldnt do it. but you dont have to worry, master of puppets is unproven so you could wait until he has something to go off of first. id use captian morgan on her if she was mine, i could see that mating clicking with her being out of dirty harry
