I have a heat seeker X Full Flush cow (profile picture) I am curious of some ideas that would be good to breed her to? She is pictured as a heifer, but is now 3 years old and moderately framed. I've already been told to try paleface. My only concern is I've heard he throws horns, and I've showed a full sib to this heifer that had horns and have seen about a dozen other full sibs of her that have had horns. I want to try and stay away from horns if I could. So any suggestions would be great.

I've previously breed her to an Angus bull that ran with the cows. With more free time in my future I plan on to A.I her this year. Her calves in the past have been fairly thick for being sired by a Angus. In fact her calves have been the thickest in the feed lot. She will add alot of thickness on her own. I kept back her second calf heifer as a replacement.

p.s I'm open to suggestions on breeds of Simmental,  Maine and Clubby. I'm not sure if I want to breed for Club Calves or Good replacement heifers. I will take both suggestions. Thanks A lot! - mike

Both pictures are of her when she was a heifer.

There are a lot of options for you with this heifer/cow? She seems to have most of the right parts. p.m. me and I will suggest several different bulls from Maine to Angus to Clubby.

As Simmi's are hot, if it were me. I would give 3C Macho a shot as well as some of the other bulls. We had luck with Macho and are trying two others this year. She is stout enough and clean made. You would get some great replacement females as well as nice club calves.

Have you had her tested so that you know her Th status? She looks like a nice heifer. There should be many good choices for her. If you are young, & just building your base herd, I would try to pick a clean maternal bull to breed her to and cross my fingers hoping for a great breeding heifer. Brent

No, I don't have her tested. Whats the process of getting her tested? Price of getting tested?

Heat Seeker TH C $27 for TH test . Purple Top tube If you go to most of the breed association websites and you can print paper work. If you suspect any PHA in her history you can have it tested same time can't remember the additional charge
