Breeding Suggestions
« on: April 14, 2011, 11:37:17 AM »
I need some breeding suggestions.  I purcased a Simmi/Angus (Meyer 734 x Angus)  bred cow from the Dakota Classic Sale.  She was lot 100 but there was not a picture.  She was bred to Unforgiven and calved on 03/29 (bull calf) and is realy coming on but I would like to breed back Simmi.  Does anyone have some thoughts on what to breed her with?

Also have a Wave on Wave heifer that will be calving her second calf and we would also like to do some Simmi.  Any suggestions for her.  She is big boned and has a lot of muscle so I want to be careful as I dont want a huge calf.  We bred Choper for her first calf and it was a nightmare.  She has a 105 lb calf and to think we were told Chopper was calving ease.

Any help would be appreciated!!!

I would say not to blame all the Birthweight on the second heifer on Chopper. Wave on Wave is Heat wave clone. LOT of BW there. With that female in perticular I would make sure I used proven calving ease sires. Dream On works pretty good for Simmi calving ease. Goldmine is another. There are a ton of Simmi peeps on here they can direct you further
Life is too short....don't sweat the small stuff.
