This is the first calf we have had with white legs and underbelly.  What is the trick to building legs with all white hair?  Thank you for your time.

get that hair trained perfectly so it pops really easy. we use tail adhesive instead of primetime on the white heifer i got now. set the legs. add another coat. then add like 3 a couple coats of white paint. depends on how white the legs are, if it starts to look fake white, STOP painting. huge pet peeve is white socks that look super fake. steer last year i only did one maybe 2 coats of white paint on him, mainly because it was really hard with how jagged his socks were. on the belly same thing just make sure that hair is combed down perfectly. and be super careful once the adhesive is on not to bump it back up. ruins the whole proccess. and if the legs are socks and the top is another color. we use cardboard as a block when painting the black or red, same as on the belly. and make sure you give the adhesive and paints enought time to dry each time. it should not be wet when you apply the next coat.

i like the weaver white for building and then i do a one last top coat of the sullivans white as a cover up for any oversprays or color problems. i dont like to use weaver adhesive, it works nice if its not humid at all. if its even kindof humid it gums up constantly and is really hard to work with.

the weaver white is really really white, and doesnt cover up color problems or overspray but it does build nice, the sullivans is a duller white and it covers up color problems and overspray much better. and it builds alrite. if you only want one brand in the tackbox, i'd stick with the sullivans.

If it is a jackpot or a show where you can use powder, use goldbond and blow it off when the leg is dry. It is a lot more natural look than baby powder.

Why would you put gold bond or baby powder on the legs? Build them?
