I was banding bull calves yesterday and ran into a problem. The one calf only had one testicle drop. I could feel the other one up there but it was kinda laying sideways and I could not get it below the band. Is this a time issue and if I wait will it drop or is it now a vet issue? The calf is a late Feb calf so one of my oldest.

Did you go ahead & band the one seed? It sounds like it will be a calf for the vet tome & if it were me I would take the band back off today if possible. It will be easier for the vet to deal with that way IMO.
Next year unless you are raising some bulls to sell try to band them the same time that you ear tag them. Much easier to do and way less risk of contracting tetanus. You just need to get a good smaller bander, one that is used to band lamb tails.

No I did not put the band on. He has a short repreive. I tag them at 12 to 24 hours old. We then band them around now. Its what works for us. We keep the odd bull for our own use and feel they need the little testosterone to help grow in our environment.

I bought a bull calve to use as my 4-H steer like this before. The owners didn't want the trouble of trying to castrate him. I don't blame them, it's not fun. We did what outspoken said: cut him  and then pull it down and cut the second one. It was pretty nasty but it actually healed up quite quickly. Good luck!

We get one like yours every couple yrs, our vet likes us to wait till fall and see if it will drop.  Like Cab said, dont band or cut the one out that you can get---  just make it harder for the vet later on.  Our vet gets them out.

Had one this year that just almost didnt even have a scrotum and couldnt even feel a testical.  Will wait till fall and see what the vet says about that one.

Have a good one
