You need like a 2011 late spring or summer born calf.  A lot of these calves have already been sold.  Watch all the sale sites because you occasionally see one pop up in the sales that are going on.

It will be hard to find one for NWSS 2013 the ones for sale now are going to be for NWSS 2014 but you need to check when the tag in date is for market animals going to Denver cause that will decide if you will be able to find one for this year and even if it hasnt then its still gonna be hard you better just plan to find one and go to Denver in 2014

I dont know...in my opinion an ideal aged steer to finish out right without haveing to be pushed hard and not having to worry to much about getting stale on you should just be starting to hit the ground. So 2014 Denver calves are probably not for sale yet.  I know some people show them a little older, but if they grow right anything much older than a lat April in my opinion is going to get to big and consequently to far past his prime, and stale for Denver.  I agree most of the great 2012 Denver prospects are already in barns, but there are still plenty out there...I mean there are still a bunch of Ft worth prospects available and Denver is just a few weeks before Ft Worth, so you could easily find a Denver calf.
P.S. You have until Sept 15 to purchase and nominate a Market Steer or Market Heifer for Denver.

Sorry my mistake, I had been awake for work for about 24 hours when typing that, I meant 2013. My apologies!

Ya you would be able to take him to other shows before then, but make sure your target end date is for Denver so the day of the show thats the best he will ever look.

You could probably get a good one at Austin Cattle in Texas or Bonham Show Cattle in Ok they will have different pens for different shows and how they think they will finish. Just give them a call.
