Ward Backenhus used him for years-and the Bear is sired by him, He is an lcs Desighner son-not real thick-is a full sib to BYland Big Bud-and is an easy calver some of the time-I started 18 years ago with a cow bred very much like him-and she was anything but easy calving-but the best momma cow I ever had-Raised her last daughter in 01 at the age of 15-that  cow is selling and is in a group picture on the classifieds- that cow and her 3 year old daughter- are very low bw and have produced some calves near 4000.Good blood-but need some maine or clubby-otherwise they will look somewhay dairy. Easy calving,......I was told his daughters had perfect udders and that he would improve udders on cows.

Like Mark said, Pattern is waaaay different than Big Bud & close relatives.  We used both bulls expecting to keep Pattern daughters for their maternal value--in the old days they used Irish on them to make them a little stouter.  I do not remember ever pulling a Pattern calf.  He's a medium roan that sired RWM & red ones on our mostly red herd.  Straight lines & good wheels under him.

He sired the 1993 Denver reserve champion bull, and the Ft Worth champion bull, Ar Su Lu Fletcher, showed by yours truly.  Pattern cattle were easy calving buggurs  Colorful, too much white for me.  daughters milk well.  good udders.  Go look him up on the ASA website and look for daughters that went into production.
