I am looking for some suggestions on new and upcoming simmental bulls to use on a first calf heifer. The heifer is a Momentum x Northern Improvement half blood simmental and we would like to keep the simmental genetics going.  She is a very deep bodied, sound, and muscular heifer. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

One Eyed Jack is pretty hot right now, especially after the success of his progeny at Trennepohl's sale and at Louisville.

We are using Uno Mas on our heifers this year.  I haven't personally seen any calves out of him but from what I have heard, they should be nice.  CE epd looks great! (I'm also assuming that you are looking for a show type bull to use.)  We have used grandmaster in the past but his CE epds are very low...I wouldn't risk it on a heifer.  The calves come out small but stocky which can lead to calving difficulties.

I like the looks of One Eyed Jack but I haven't used him (may get some semen this year).  Others to consider are United (1/2 blood) (haven't used but seen some nice cattle; rare CE and incredible growth epds), Wide Track (had a few really good ones last year, maybe not exactly heifer CE though although we used him successfully on heifers), Pays to Believe (young and unproven although I love his look), I've seen a few nice Uproar calves although haven't used him.  Good luck selecting...this is the fun part.

We used uno mas on a couple heifers last year.  Both came easy and the birth weights were just where we were hoping they would be (75 and 70lbs).  We bred our heifers to him again for this calving season.
