Got this picture from Matt's blog. I for one am very impressed by the picture! Our first calf this spring will be a Choppin Wood!

Anyone have any calf photos? To me the proof is in the pudding. I want to see offspring.

There are starting to be some showing up in the fall born sales down here this year.  For example, Tad Kite had one sell on Breeders World yesterday that you can look up the photo/video if you are so inclined.

I'm still not paricularly interested in him as I still prefer the black bull x white cow combo to get Char-X steers.  If I'm gonna go half-blood Char bull, nothing has been able to beat Brandon Horn's bulls yet for calves that get there in the end.

But looking at Choppin Wood's photo I don't see anything inherently wrong with him - he's big enough for his age.

At least he's got some nuts!  And a descent set to his hind pasterns for a clubby bull.

Mat John and Matt had bought a Choppin Wood Heifer that was supposed to be in their fall sale, but she died. Probably the top heifer I had saw all spring last year

Talked to some people that saw him at the stud in Michigan and said he wasn't even hip high and cat butted

I saw him at Hawkeye early summer and thought he was EXTREMELY small framed

If he is really small framed then I might have to try him. Have a very large framed cow I keep trying to downsize with no luck so far.  :)

Haven't seen him since he was a calf. But his dam is one NICE cow. Huge bone and rib shape. Love her. Honestly, she is probably too small for Troubador because those dang things don't get big enough, but yellow jacket would be great on her. she does not look like a typical heat wave cow. She can straight milk like a dairy cow too. Extremely impressive female...when heat wave females are good they are scary good for club calf production.

I don't like either of the calves posted in this thread.  The steer is odd looking, and the heifers front feet look like they really turn out.
