Currently my favorite podcast! I've learned a lot from this podcast and I thought the Maine episode was particularly interesting as well.

The "Chute Side" podcasts by Faris Simon are very interesting to listen to and informative.  He has had different topics and persons that he has interviewed.  Love them.

If you go back through the archives, I think the one he did on calving and dystocia was very well done and organized.  Its like a warm up for calving.

There is a ton of good information in that episode.  That's also the first time I've heard of the Dominant Follicle Removal, which allows the cow to produce a greater number of quality eggs.  I would not hesitate to send cows to him, seems to have a really good common sense approach to the whole thing.

I'm with you CRS. I didn't know about the Dominant Follicle Removal either. I've heard of some good cows that wouldn't flush as well and I would love to see if this was the problem. I also thought it was interesting how many cows he had data on in regards to heat detection dating back to the late 90's and early 2000's I believe. I've been guilty of not putting the semen in early enough. Overall, great episode imo.
