Well for the second year in a row, my son (now 13) has won Reserve Grand Champ market steer.  We had a field of about 50 steers this year.  He was a late May calf that we got from Mill Iron A livestock in (Wyoming & Idaho).  I believe his dam is Red Angus and Sire was Key's Tenacious a Charolais bull.  He was down right awesome to work with this year.  Gentle and easy finishing.  Not the best pics, but I'm one proud papa.
My daughter won junior showmanship champion with her PB simmy steer out of NLC Upgrade.  He was a toad and had lots of compliments but simply too big.  He weighed in at 1550 but it took that to finish him.  Per ultrasound, he had a 17.46 inch rib eye.

Here is a pic if my daughters steer. NLC Upgrade out of a Powerdrive cow. Pic was a week before fair. Awesome powerful steer that averaged 4.15 ADG. Had a 17.46 in rib eye. But was 1550 at weigh in.

Great job, kids look like they enjoy it. That is the most important part.

Good job and congratulations to your kids and your family on a job well done. It's kind of nice to brag on your kids once in a while.

Appreciate the comments. Kids are already in the hunt for next years' steers.  I love to see them want to better the year before.  At this point I think my daughter will be taking another simmy based steer this year sired by Chopper.  My son desperately wants to take another yellow calf from Mill Iron A.
