Have a nice Circle A angus cow that I'm wanting to breed to something different this year.
She's correct, good hipped could use a little thickness but just a real nice kind of cow. Have used her as a recipt in the
past, and bred to Alias last time but lost the calf(born blind and deaf). Thought about
giving Texas Twister a try and maybe getting a smoke calf or using some Maximus  semen I have and making a Simm/Angus
replacement. Anyone have any suggestions?

I have some nice calves out of Escalade and commercial Angus cows this year - replacement females + one steer that is real nice and will probably run Angus down here.  Pretty good option if you wanted a chance to go both ways.

I've never been able to get a good steer in years of trying using Charolais bulls on Angus cows.  I've tried it every which way imaginable.  Ought to work, but doesn't.

Walks Alone will work on Angus cows. Monopoly will too if you want steers that will run Angus.  Plus, Monopoly females bred that way are real nice.

If you are primarily interested in heifers, hard to beat Sim-Angus.  A million ways to go, but if you want ones that will raise steers for Texas then follow the guys that are best at it and use something Meyer, Steel Force, or Chopper.  Commercial or registered Simmental ain't the same thing as clubby-oriented Simmis.

To follow chambero, I have also seen a lot of good Escalade calf's this year and place a few of them. I looked at Escalade when Larry Davis brought him home and he was unbelievably powerful and sound. Good suggestion.
