What are everybody's daily schedule for calves. When do you feed? how long to you give them to eat? When do you rinse and dry? Cool room tie up times? I will have a day job this summer that will not allow me to be home from 7 am to 5pm or later, and i am not sure how I am going to get all these calves ready for county and state fairs!! HELP!!!

Get up early, stay up late and tell your friends see them in three months! ;-)  Tough situation to be in, but it can be done!  Enlist and relish any help you can get during the day!  Just a head poked in the barn is some serious piece of mind!  We feed in the morning and evening!  Routine revolves around working cows when the kids aren't playing ball!  It will be easier for us when school is out!  Easier to motivate our 10 and 11 year old as well!  Hang in there and work hard!  Money is a necessary evil (job) :-/

I'm at school from 8-2:30, then work usually 4-9, so my schedule is normally:
6am- feed.
7:30- I'm leaving for school so I tie them up. There kept in a stall in a different part of the barn with just timed misters on them right now.
2:30- Come home, take them out, blow them out, and work with them as leong as I can.
3:30- I leave for work, so there put back in the regular stalls, not tied so they can eat. No one at my house will bother to check them for me, and i don't want anything to happen to them.
9pm- Come home, walk them in the turn out pen (we have two security lights). Rinse them real good, then turn them out in the pen for the night.

I have my sister go out every so often and untie them for feed and water. And to make sure nothing happened to them.

That's usually how my day goes.

5AM-take calves out of pen and rinse, blow, and work hair. Then tie them up under fans with feed and hay.
3PM-give calves water, blow them out, walk let them run a little bit in a pen in the barn, and tie them back under fans
7PM-give calves water, rinse and blow them out again, feed and give them hay. Whenever they finish eating they are let out in their pen for the night.
Every time I mess with them I work them with the show stick so they are used to setting up.

Cattle in and rinsing by 5:30 or 6
Blow, brush, brush, brush till about 7:30
Feed and hit the shower, be out the door by 8
Work 9-4, (had about a 50 minute drive)
Home by 5, eat dinner, in the barn by 6
Rinse, brush, etc till about 8:30
Turn out at about 9 or so.. Whenever it got dark

This was my schedule a couple summers ago.  We didn't have a cooler and luckily my brother was around too to pick up when I couldn't be around or we ran late in the mornings.  It's always the days that you're already running late that cows are out right??  This worked for us because we like to feed at 12 hour intervals, especially when we are really trying to push one.

Sounds like you're going to be doing most of you hair work in the evenings since you'll be working at 7.. Try a few things and figure out what works for you.  Just because this worked for us doesn't mean its going to for you by any means.  I'm just a tid bit anal about how things get done and like to run a tight ship ;)

Props to you for having a job and doing the show cow thing!  Not many people are motivated to do it both anymore it seems.
