Talked to a guy that bought a steer and a couple of heifers. He said one steer brought around 10k, a few brought around 5k the rest brought 2k or less. Said he bought a decent heifer that weighed over 800 for $750. That's under market. Several calves sold for under market price. Sounds like a wreck after you put all the expense and time into them to get them there.

I was at the sale…the whole sale…whew!  Gabel had a heifer bring $9750 (first one in the sale).  Rest of his pen brought $2,600 and $3K.  Sidwell had some 338 weight fall born heifers that brought $1300 – $2000.  They had a pen of 460 weight fall born steers that brought $1300 - $5000 .  They had pen of 5 (340 weight) fall born steers @ $1100 - 4500.  Allowed to sell your alternate as well.  Reed Chase had pen of 766 weight steers bring $5500 x2 , 5250 and 2250.  Behmer had a steer bring $4,500 (866 weight ave pen weight).  38 total pens.  By about halfway of the sale they were really struggling to keep the sale prices from driving off a cliff, but they did.

No sale detailed report available.  NWSS does a sale report on their website, but it is NOT comprehensive.  I do not know the breeding of anything that sold.    The Maine Sale gets an overflow crowd.  That sale started with about 2/3 of capacity and by the end of the sale there were about 30-40 people left.  I had not been to that sale in 25+ years, too many other ways to sell your club calves now than in past years.

We were happy, (Behmer Show Cattle). What did everyone think about having the sale on Monday instead of Tuesday?

The guy I talked to has been buying there the last 10 years or so. He said if his brother hadn't of told him about the change of day's he would have went Tuesday. He seemed to think the change hurt because the building was only about 2/3 full when it's usually standing room only.
