Can I use dmso to remove fluid from inside of rear hock on my steer

Not legally -

DMSO is considered a drug
As a drug it is not approved for use in cattle
As such you would need to follow all the rules and regs (search AMDUCA and ELDU - extra label drug use on sp)

But it works. Actually it's not approved for much other than as a solvent. Put gloves on and practice fitting the hocks with it a few days before. Couldn't hurt to try. And by show day when you have found out that it is stupid to Try to pull up hair with a thick jell the fluid should have gone down.

You are incorrect - DMSO is approved for use in horses - it is considered a drug and therefore using it in animals produced for food you MUST follow AMDUCA and ELDU. Lots of things work - doesn't mean they are right or legal or ethical - and while you  can buy nonmedical grade DMSO as a solvent did it ever occur to you what might be in in and what might be entering the meat and therefore the food supply - you are not raising hair you are raising food and it would be good to play by the rules

gmo's have the same issue.

the problem with government is they rarely re-review anything that may have been wrong or an ld50 to be wrong.  typically, when they do, they tighten the constraints even more.

Never made me smell like garlic, but it did someone else I know that used it. He also said he could taste garlic.

Never said I was raising hair just said It worked, emotional issue. The product works well for many who have joint pain, regardless of the metallic or garlic taste you have. Many say that the drug companies are behind keeping it so restricted. MGA was also used off label for quite some time to synchronize heifers before it was approved for such use.
