Last month the Dubbo All Breeds Heifer Show in Australia was held. There were about 150 competitors. I thought I would post pics of each of the division champions here for everyone's interest.
The Shorthorn with the pink ribbon was the grand champion. I'm afraid the pics aren't the best but they give you an idea!!

Why do heifers have rings in there noses?
I think they use humbugs in females at their shows in both Australia and Argentina.

They're not rings, they're nose clips. It is compulsory at all Australian shows for all females over 9 months to be led with a nose clip, and for all bulls over the same age to have ring in. It's all to do with occupational health and safety... a pain in the butt.

So were there only two breeds or more that show?

there were about 20 breeds at the show, and 150 entries (as I said at the start). It just so happened that Shorties came out on top  ;D oh, and the puffers a couple of times too  ;)

Cattle look good Carla. What is the breeding of the two Shorthorn heifers?

JIT, the first heifer (the junior and grand champion) is by Moombi McGaw A00 - an ET son of Broughton Park Millenium T22 and from Moombi Daffodil P84 - and out of a Marellan Wallet cow which goes back to Waukaru Prime Minister on the dam's side.

The second heifer (the calf champion) is by Southcote Yale Y157 - a grandson of Weebollabolla Theodore - from a Marrington cow which is by a son of Chatswood Park Winning Drive, and whose dam is by The Grove Condamine.

Confusing enough?!
