From JIT..."Getting back to the discussion on sires suitable to use on heifers, I think we could have found a lot of solutions to this issue if we are breeders could simply track gestation length more accurately and identify sires that have a short gestation length. I think we would be able to produce so called "heifer bulls" in quantity if we only did this."

It's becoming very interesting to me how much information the Australians provide, including an EBV for gestation length. I'm just looking at sires on their approved AI list

At some point Librarian asked for a photo of Weston Ablo, but I don't remember which thread. I finally found one taken when he was 2 years. I wish I had a mature photo of him on pasture. Pictured is a yearling bred heifer by Wesyon Ablo out of Diamond Nona Maid 61N plus photos of Ablo and 61N. The fourth photo another daughter of 61N, Diamond Unica Maid 9U. We had retained a flush in this cow and now have two confirmed pregnancies by Balmoral Oaks Eagle 9X.
Well it is definitely the year of the bull around here. We are running 66% bull calves and these matings were no exception. Diamond Weston Maid 44B had a roan 72 lb bull calf by Diamond Lord Belmore 56B. The two ET calves by Balmoral Oaks Eagle 9X were bulls, a roan 87 lb and a red 105 lb. So no replacement heifers from this line this year but it will be interseting to see how the bull calves develop!

Mothers both look good, especially the top one. Great depth.
Those two recipient mothers are shorthorn x simmental crosses (thumbsup)
Here are photos of the donor dam and the sire.
